Workshop 2011 - Tanzania

The Network Developing Sustainability, "Biodiversity, Land Use and Marine & Coastal Management" is a thematic partnership involving well reputed university institutions dealing with biology, resource management, marine and coastal sciences and regional development. These institutions aim to collaborate in certain fields of expertise in order to provide significant contributions to the international community over a mid- and long-term period, but also to promote local and regional development. The pressing topics of biodiversity and ecosystem science include: climate and climate impact research, integrated land use and coastal management and the societal needs of sustainable development and adaptation to climate change.

From the 05th to the 07th of October 2011, representatives of the Network "Developing Sustainability" (DevSus) gathered at the Institute of Marine Sciences (IMS) of the University of Dar es Salaam. The well-established IMS is located on Zanzibar Island and is the main partner at UDSM within the DevSus network in the field of Biodiversity, Land Use and Marine and Coastal Management.

The organizing committee on the part of the IMS consisted of Dr. Ntahondi Nyandwi, Senior Lecturer & Associate Director (Academic) and partnership coordinator, Mr. Daudi J. Msangameno, Assistant Lecturer as well as Ms Regina Peter, Assistant Lecturer.
